My Reviews of this recipe
As my birthday weekend rolled in, I decided to host an intimate dinner with my friends and family. I wanted it to be memorable and extra in creating a festive feeling. I set up vibrant decorations, cheerful music, and delicious food. I planned a pizza birthday night and had the pleasure of baking a Potato Pizza myself because all the ingredients were just around the corner of my kitchen. Making it from scratch is a rewarding experience.
Potato Pizza Ingredients
- Thinly sliced potatoes (Russet potato)
- Sea salt
- Olive oil
- Mozzarella cheese
- Fresh rosemary
Homemade Pizza Dough Ingredients
- Flour: 2 ½ to 3 cups all-purpose flour
- Yeast: 1 packet (2 ¼ teaspoons) active dry yeast or instant yeast
- Water: 1 cup warm water about 110°F or 43°C
- Sugar: 1 teaspoon sugar to help activate the yeast
- Salt: 1 teaspoon salt
- Olive oil: 1 tablespoon olive oil for greasing
I start by preparing the homemade pizza dough, mixing flour, yeast, a pinch of salt, and water and resting it before I stretch the dough forming it into a perfect circle. On the other hand, I thinly sliced the potatoes and soaked them in cold water after adding salt. I layered the potato slice, sprinkled rosemary, drizzled olive oil, and added mozzarella cheese as I anticipated a cheesy version. Then I preheat the oven to 200˚C, slipped the pizza into the oven, and the kitchen filled with the scent of the baking dough and the sound of the roasting potatoes baked to perfection.
Then comes the best part: gathering around the table and sharing it with my friends and family. The first thing that hits me is the smell of earthy potatoes and rosemary. As I slice the pizza, I can feel the tender, perfectly cooked potatoes layered beneath the dough, and with each pull, there’s a delightful stretch of mozzarella and satisfying crunch. The first bite is pure bliss, a combination of flavors dances in my mouth, with the crispy crust giving way to the tender potatoes and cheesy mozzarella. I love how the natural flavors shine and the simplicity of the ingredients showcasing each component to play its part beautifully both comforting and indulging. The best aspect of potatoes is their versatility, they adapt so well to various flavors and textures. The natural sweetness of potatoes pairs wonderfully with cheese and the rosemary adds an aromatic flavor that elevates the potato to another level and makes it a hit for me and everybody.
